A Title I school is a school that receives federal funding to help students from low-income families. The purpose of Title I is to ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to receive a high-quality education and meet state academic standards.
Schools qualify for Title I funding based on the percentage of students who are economically disadvantaged. A common way to measure this is by the number of students who are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch (FRPL). Typically, a school must have at least 40% of its students enrolled in FRPL to qualify for Title I funds.
